Classical & Pops Concert

September 19th, Sunday
Time: 5:00 p.m.
Cost: Free
On Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 5:00 p.m., Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired and The Blue Ash/Montgomery Symphony Orchestra will host a free outdoor classical and pops concert on Clovernook’s campus. Music enthusiasts from all over the Cincinnati area will delight in a performance conducted by Michael Chertock. Musical selections include musicians or composers with vision loss or disability. One such violin soloist Kyle Conley, who is blind, will be showcasing his talent. The inclusionary focus will underscore the abilities and accomplishments of the many individuals served by Clovernook Center. “The intent for this particular partnership is to create an understanding and safe environment for people with all abilities so that they can learn what it’s like to attend a classical concert,” stated Marcie Hammel, chairwoman. “Music is a great equalizer.” Pieces that may be performed include: 1) Concerto in A Minor by Baroque composer, Johann Sebastian Bach; 2) Coriolan Overture, by Ludwig van Beethoven, a composer with a serious hearing impairment; 3) Concierto de Aranjuez, by Joaquin Rodrigo, a blind composer from Spain; 4) Tchaikovsky: First movement of Violin Concerto, and 1812 Overture. The following have provided vital support to this free outdoor concert for all to experience and enjoy: The John & Shirley Davies Foundation, The William O. Purdy, Jr. Foundation of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, The Otto M. Budig Family Foundation, Elizabeth A. Elliott, Anne M. Maxfield & Gene Lege, The Ohio Arts Council, Jim, Michelle, Davis and Dacey Rogers, L.
