Planned Giving Options
Make a planned gift…changing the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired. Making a difference in the lives of the next generation is something everyone can do. Whether you think of yourself as rich or poor or somewhere in between, your gift can make the difference in the lives of people with visual impairments. Even a small amount can lead to a big impact over time. The Trader Society How can you get started? Make sure you have an up-to-date will or living trust that reflects your family and charitable objectives. If you don't, you might want to contact your financial advisor or lawyer and ask for help in establishing a will or trust that incorporates charitable giving. As you work through this process, think beyond cash. Perhaps you have securities, IRA or insurance policies where you might like to leave your legacy by naming Clovernook as the beneficiary. It is highly recommended you consult with your tax or legal advisor prior to making a planned gift. Only you know the best fit for your charitable giving. If you are interested in becoming a member of The Trader Society, please call Anne M. Maxfield, Vice President of Fund Development & Community Relations at 513.728.6274 or fd@clovernook.org. Estate Planning It is during the estate planning process that you may want to think not only about your family and friends, but also charitable giving. If you need assistance, National Association of Estate Planners & Councils can help. Charitable Gift Annuities In a life-income arrangement, you can purchase an annuity, which allows you income each year (payment for the asset) and a charitable income-tax deduction for making the gift. Or, if it makes more sense, you can establish a charitable trust, ensuring your family and favorite charities are funded. As with any planned giving initiative, it is highly recommended you consult with your tax or legal advisor prior to making a planned gift. Call or email Anne M. Charitable Trusts A Charitable Reminder Trust is an irrevocable trust that pays a specified annual amount to one or more people for a fixed period of years – often the lifetime of the donor. At the end of the term of the trust, the remaining trust assets are distributed to the charity. A Charitable Lead Trust is similar to a remainder trust, but the principal reverts to the donor or designated heirs at the end of the trust term. As with any planned gift, it is highly recommended you consult with your attorney or financial advisor. Call or eMail Anne M.
