Volunteers play a vital role in every aspect of our operation at Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. They support the mission and vision of our organization. They extend the reach of our talented staff. And, they touch the lives of our consumers with many positive contributions and selfless compassion.

Get involved… be a volunteer!

You can assist in helping Clovernook fulfill our mission, “ To promote independence and foster the highest quality of life.” Look below for more ways that you can make a difference at Clovernook.

Volunteer

Transportation

Transport individuals to and from medical appointments, meetings, activities, shopping, and occasionally the bus station or airport. This may involve picking up the individual at Clovernook or at the individual's home. Clovernook has vehicle(s) available or use your own car and Clovernook will reimburse you for mileage.

Volunteer

One-to-One

This volunteer role involves a one-to-one relationship with a blind or visually impaired person. It includes companionship, recreational activities, and developing a trusting relationship.

Reader

Some individuals need sighted assistance to read mail (or write letters to sighted family, friends, or businesses), label household items, and assist them in Brailing directions or other materials, which are typically only available in print. This may also include reading materials onto tape for those who do not read Braille.

Volunteer

Copyholder

Works in our Braille production facility reading print copy with a blind person who checks the Braille copy for accuracy. This is a regularly scheduled Position generally 1/2 day or 1 day per week.

Volunteers have many talents and interests. Music lessons, aerobics, swimming, cooking, arts and crafts, bicycling - you tell us what your interests are. We will try to match you with a client who has the same interests or get you involved in Clovernook's work in a way that utilize your unique talents and skills.
